Connecting people with the Life that counts for eternity!

Cancer Support Ministry

Image goes here.

This ministry offers support to men, women and families fighting cancer. Through this program, church and community members touched by cancer are provided with compassion and spiritual counsel that are specific to their needs as cancer patients, caregivers or loved ones.

“We want to let them know we are here for them.”

The team hopes to  provide:

  • encouragement and hope;
  • spiritual support and prayer;
  • companion visits;
  • practical support, courage, and compassion to every person in our community affected by cancer.

History:

For Joe Owens, being a stage 4 melanoma cancer survivor, and his wife Gay Lynn, being a caregiver, this ministry is personal. Pastor Chuck encouraged them to attend cancer ministry training,  “Our Journey of Hope”  in June 2015, led by the Pastoral Care Department at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, OK. Then, they  provided the 8-week training  at Crest Baptist Church, including the community, and have formed a Cancer Support Ministry Team. This team, who has taken the training; consists of cancer survivors, those currently in the battling cancer, caregivers and friends of families dealing with cancer.
